A visit with Daniel

Mommy and Daddy both enjoyed skin-to-skin contact with Daniel today.  He briefly had his eyes open and was moving his hands, feet and head.

Elizabeth

Colby is enjoying the company of Elizabeth, a terrific nanny that began working for us three weeks ago.  She took Colby for a nice haircut this morning.  It has been a blessing to have her with us while we go back and forth to the hospital visiting Daniel.  Today, Elizabeth and Colby played in the NICU family waiting room while Ashley and I had skin-to-skin contact with Daniel for roughly one half-hour.  We had lunch at the hospital and then Ashley took Colby and Elizabeth into the NICU for a brief visit with Daniel.

Daniel Robert Welker

The ABC Family has added a D.

We are extremely pleased to announce the birth of Daniel Robert Welker, born Monday, May 19 at 7:15pm, weighing 3 pounds and 11 ounces.  He arrived two months earlier than expected but is doing well and is receiving excellent medical attention.  We look forward to bringing him home in a few weeks.

We are very grateful for the tremendous reaction of joy and offers to help from our family and friends.  We will laugh for many years to come that Gigi (Daniel's maternal grandmother) was the last family member to learn of his birth because she was on a Caribbean cruise on board a difficult to contact ship.

As a happy consequence of Daniel joining our lives we are also announcing the name change of our family blog to Hunting Lane Quartet from Hunting Lane Trio.

Welcome Daniel.  We love you!!!

Colby presented Mommy with a wonderful hand-made card/picture book. He was very proud of his handiwork.
